What Initially Sparked your Interest in Animation?
I've always enjoyed watching animated films and TV shows but it wasn't until I started watching student films and indie animation posted on YouTube that I started considering animation as a doable profession where I had the potential to express whatever I wanted.

One of my favorite animations (and only student film) I've created thus far is "mr. sun". It's a very short and strange monochromatic film about a girl with insomnia and her dubious friend who goes by "mr. sun", loosely inspired by the fact I had insomnia the first few weeks of college. It was extremely fun to create and got me addicted to creating more short films, which are currently in the works!

What Initially Sparked your Interest in Animation?
I always imagined my childhood dog as an animated character. She was a poodle with an attitude: in my family, she only bullied me, so I always had ideas and comics about what was going on in her mind. She is a big reason why I kept drawing animals and characters growing up.
What is Your Specialty?
I am focusing on concept design and look dev, but my bread and butter is designing creatures inspired by everyday objects.

Last year I took part in a 48 hour animation jam where the theme was "Loud". My team wanted to attempt the impossible and use Maya and Unreal Engine, which meant constant mistakes and troubleshooting. My favorite challenge was a shot of our protagonist, an angry opera singer, reflected in a wine glass that she would pick up and throw. We had so much fun during the process and even more fun presenting it to our classmates at school.

The storyboard piece is created for my portfolio, also my first attempt of drawing storyboard for an action scene. I had fun learning how to draw the flow of movements, effects and design the shots that express the characters' personalities and types of figure.

What Initially Sparked your Interest in Animation?
Growing up, Beauty and the Beast was my favorite movie, I owned the VHS and by the end of the film, it had an extra feature showing the process of how the film was made and I would re-watch it a hundred times. That's how I knew that my dream was to work for the animation industry.

My favorite project that I’ve worked on was my final project for my master's degree. I designed a hybrid creature called La Manigua combining different animals found in the Amazon rainforest (Jaguar, Tapir, Frog, Hummingbird, Macaw, Black Caiman, and Green Iguana) with the purpose of exploring a variety of animal skins on a single creature.

One of my favorite animations that I’ve created was my thesis film “Hello World!”. It’s a 2 min CG animation about a robot’s journey exploring a dream world created by error coding. She travels this world in a timeless and directionless trance and sees it as a human being would. Yet everything seems to go back to the moment when the system error code was removed. It's a story questioning the boundary between real-life responses and programmed reactions.
