Welcome to the dark side of Dunkn’ with a richer flavor. Our work for Dunkn’ had some fun, motion graphic sleight of hand with a bold design. At a second glance, there is a lot that goes into the simplest cup of coffee. This is a hip, neon infused, single shot view of Dunkin’s Dark Roast. We enjoyed every drop.
Hot or iced, Dunkin’ Dark Roast, Fall Spice Infused and the Original Blend all look delicious. We used a combination of CG and live-action elements to create a blend of cohesive effects. Neon signage revealed in the shadows put a flare of night life into a traditional morning drink. This is for the people who seek out Dunkin’ for their energy no matter the time of day.
VISUAL DEVELOPMENT
We used a combination of live-action and motion graphic elements to create a slick one-shot where animated shadows reveal motion-graphic neon text. Within the shadows, live-action coffee beans spill out across the text creating a rich dark texture.
MOTION TESTS
In our eyes, nothing beats the real thing. So we put real coffee in real Dunkin’ Coffee cups and used camera rigs to get our motion and angles. In this motion test for the camera rig, we experiment until we find the right look and feel.
SIMULATIONS
We used subtle effects to augment the coffee photography and convey a sense of heat and flavor. Here we can dial in this effect, to make the final look subtle and predictable within every frame.
