HESS
Just like the rest of America, the Hess Truck is an annual tradition at MAKE. We always look forward to when we get to create epic Hess Truck action for the Holidays. For 2023, it was the Hess Police Truck and Cruiser. We love a winter wonderland where daring rescues happen on snowy roads as we help Hess make Christmas a little brighter and a lot more exciting. Our epic Hess Truck action brings a little holiday magic to children and collectors across America.
The Hess Police Truck and Cruiser
We created a winter wonderland full of quaint snow covered villages with warm lights and holiday decorations — we even got Santa to visit us in the studio to make our Hess adventure happen. There are a lot of different elements that went into making the seamless winter action. A real-life Santa, sprawling digital landscapes, life-like reindeer and larger than life Hess trucks all came together to keep Santa's sleigh moving on schedule.
REINDEER
To bring this holiday world to life, we created hyper-realistic reindeer to keep Santa on schedule. Every detail was considered, from their accurate fur and dazzling bells to their soaring and gliding motion. We made sure to make them look as real as Santa himself. While they are not the focus of our story, they make us believe in greater holiday magic and even more excited for the brand new Hess Truck.
Cozy Christmas
When we show off the real toys, we made sure to smack you in the eyeballs with iconic Christmas decor. Our toy play sequences are performed by real kids and then we amp up the Christmas wonder in post. Adding the warm fire with stockings and a sparkling well lit tree. The holiday living room is another one of our digital holiday assets that is meant to be felt in every frame.

Let it Snow
What is winter without snow? We made sure all of our effects had a winter wonderland charm to them. We concentrated on how the snow clumps together, and the gentle glint of frozen mist sparkling under the twilight. Let's face it — snow is dope and fun to play in, even when it is entirely digital. We always try to maximize the winter fun each year for Hess.
SANTA ON SET
Just so everyone knows, we brought in the real Santa Claus to make our holiday action extra special. Wink Wink. We used a blend of live-action and digital techniques to get Santa so stuck in the snow that only Hess could help him. We give his sleigh enough detail to be magical, imbuing the details with whimsical holiday flourishes.
