The Joker and Riddler have cut the power to Gotham City. Batman must use his new Bat Tech to find his arch nemesis, kick them out of Gotham and restore the city's power. This was a fun and dynamic story of Batman and his newest Bat Tech.
Detailed assets tell a story of Gotham and its vibrant city center. Made to the scale of the toy, we created a setting that was inspired by the art nouveau aesthetic of Chicago and brought that into a futuristic interpretation of Gotham City. Our neon signs in particular, helped fill our night time scene with light. We had complete freedom to pick the color and design an atmosphere that best showcased the 12 inch figures.
Digital sets, with a modular and versatile design, allow us to build out an entire city block, and create variations that extend this cityscape to support the needs of every shot. Joker and Riddler themed traps create a deadly web and heighten the danger and stakes of the action.
Digital sets allow us complete freedom to create an authentic gotham that changes dynamically as Joker and Riddler shut off the power. After capturing the toy play on green screen, we integrated the action with animated effects that help communicate the features of the toy.
This is a tale of two gothams. There is a vibrant city center full of blue, purple and gold light. When the Joker and Riddler shut down Gotham City, the power gets cut and the red emergency lights turn on. The progression of the setting helps amp up the stakes of the main action.
The Nightwing 12 inch figure was shot on green screen with dynamic purple and blue light. We use stand in props to make the toy play realistic and achievable. When we integrate the toy into our final scene, things like the wrecking ball are replaced with a CG version of the prop to make our aesthetic synergize with the background elements.
