Celestial Seasonsings
Beyond the rim or your favorite tea mug, there is a whole world behind every sip. Whether it is the punch of Raspberry Zinger or the coziness of Sleepytime, each cup held its own surprises, its own wave of calm and its own ingredients to celebrate. The ‘Taste Our World’ campaign for Celestial Seasonings became a chance to explore extravagant visual flavors that were fine tuned to wet the audience's palette.
Overview
For Celestial Seasonings, we created small, cup-sized worlds that you can taste—with your eyes, of course. Sinking our taste buds into each cup feels like we were being immersed, surrounded and transported to a more serene and timeless place. However, there is another story here as well—It is the story of the flavor’s ingredients and celebrating the people that harvest them and the places where these ingredients flourish.
The Social Campaign
Consider each cup the teaser of a world inspired by each flavor's ingredients. Each cup has a gentile context; where Sleepytime is nestled in with some blankets, Raspberry Zinger Cold rests on a relaxing patio table on a hot day. Seeing it all together, we are stricken by the variety. This, for us, creates excitement and anticipation—we are now curious which world we might find in our cup. Is that a little glimpse of a beach in the distance?

Process
VFX
It all starts with the cup. We selected an elegant vessel of either ceramic or glass and gave it a vibrant material backdrop. This laid a solid foundation for the canvas on which we would construct each world. We went a little crazy with the tracking markers inside the cup, but this gave us the ability to reconstruct the camera in 3d, allowing us to build the convincing effect of the world opening up as we travel through the cup.
We work iteratively, removing the 3d markers, laying in placeholders and 3d assets to expand the world. These place holders allow us to quickly visualize the movement through the glass. Once that was nailed down, it was time to make each ingredient as lush and appealing as a secret beach flush with Hibiscus flowers and Raspberry bushes.

Key Ingredients
We have our own key ingredients that we found essential to create a celestial experience. Whether it is sunlight pouring in through a window, or warm light drifting through green leaves, the quality of light hitting that table helped give a sense of place. The rich materiality of the cup, the warmth of the table and the quality of light were all key ingredients that helped deliver the immersive comfort that comes with a simple cup of tea.
