If you want to win some jackpot money and you aren’t necessarily from this planet, go play Nebraska Pick 5 from the Nebraska Lottery. We set out to explore the world of the Plorgons, telling stories of their misadventures for the Nebraska Lottery. We loved revisiting these characters and their antics through multiple installments of our Nebraska Pick 5 campaign.
Meet Marlax and Zendar— two Plorgons in their state-of-the-art disguises. They want to go to the only spot in the universe where they can play to win in the Nebraska Pick 5 lottery game. They will go to any lengths to trick humans into letting them play.
The misadventures of Marlax and Zendar take us to all kinds of places on earth and even on the Plorgon home world. During their travels they learn the customs, traditions and symbols of the Nebraska heartland. Whether it is bringing a Huskers football to their leader, asking cows for directions, buying fancy cars or learning how to fish, these two were a fun pair to watch as they perfected their game with Nebraska Lottery’s Pick 5.
Our process begins with detailed concept art beginning with the characters and then developing the details of their world. Their crafty and ill-conceived disguises show us their desire to blend in. They even procure paraphernalia that tells us what state we are in and which football team we root for. With these details we can layer character and humor that builds stories that we want to see come back to.
While we are all in on how much they stand out, the aliens still needed to be integrated into each scene. This required attention to a ton of small details; From how they handle a bag of chips, to paying for their Pick 5 tickets and coffee. Zendar and Marlax have to fit believably within the live action setting and interact convincingly with the strange world around them.
From head to tentacle, Marlax and Zendar are part of a complex process in character building. From internal bones driving the tentacles, to internal organs revealed through their translucent skin, each aspect of the aliens was dialed in to have an other-worldly effect. Now we must depart. Cheers earthlings. Enjoy your window washer fluid beverages.
