FAST LIGHT READY
Bring on the nostalgia of an animated cartoon intro, complete with a synthwave theme song. This is a tale of two backpacks! Where one weighs you down, while the OGIO FUSE allows you to soar above it all. This is a treacherous world full of challenges and danger as seen by a boy on his way to school. He’s going to need a whole bag of tricks to get through it all.
VISUAL DEVELOPMENT
We were tasked with developing a bold illustrated style that shows us a fantasy world of monsters, winged flight, samurai sword battles and missed school buses. Our style was built to look illustrated, with exaggerated perspectives and full of rich texture. We bounce between the regular world and the intense and colorful world of OGIO. The rhythm of “Fast Light Ready" bounces between these two realities to show off the features and spaces of the OGIO FUSE backpack.
ICONIC STYLE
Brand colors create a high contrast color pallet that demands attention. Rough chalk and pencil textures add hand made quality while a prominent use of black is used to drive dynamic composition. All of this creates a piece that catches the eye, and makes us curious to see more. At the end of the day, we wanted each frame to feel like an iconic illustration.
KEEP IT ROUGH
There are no shortcuts around good old-fashioned drawing. Our process is iterative, where we make rough drawings and clean them up over several versions until we get a final drawing. We went for a handmade look, keeping the lines loose in texture, tight on form. Additional texture is comped in to exaggerate the handmade quality of the image.
HAND - DRAWN CAMERA MOVES
A dynamic camera unbound by typical constraints, our 2d motion gives the illusion of camera movement. This allows us to follow our running character right into the backpack. Our unconstrained view makes it feel like we can go anywhere and do anything.
DISTORTED PERSPECTIVE
Exaggerated perspective gives us a heightened view of each moment while giving us an exaggerated and cinematic feel to the drawing. Bending and warping space helped us elevate the fantasy of the animation and add a bit more drama and emotion into every shot.
