SCULPTURAL LIGHT
Procedural Light is an in depth exploration of the sculptural quality of light. We are most interested in the materials that generate, capture or reflect light and the unique gestures they can create. We explore a full array of procedural animation techniques to make an experience of light that feels grounded in observation and at the same time lifted by our imaginations.
VISUAL DEVELOPMENT
Our driving idea behind Procedural Light was creating a story of light through procedural animation. This includes developing other materials and gestures where light has unexpected qualities as it passes through things like smoke, water, glass, cloth etc. Our color design came from observable variations in the temperature of light from warm yellows and oranges to cool blues
SIMULATION MEETS COMPOSITION
Our process in creating different compositions came from experimentation and curiosity. At first, we imagined gestures and materials and let our simulations take on a life of their own. We then framed our compositions that best showcase the gesture. With one hand we are playful and open,and with the other, we are dialing finesse and details.
