Welcome to the party where Crush Soda and Sour Patch Kids team up to punch you in the mouth with fruity flavors. Like every awesome party, there will be explosive music, dancing, and lots and lots of Soda Fruit Mix. Let's shake it up and see what happens.
VISUAL DEVELOPMENT
This piece begins and ends with a colorful flavor. So our main goal was to slap the audience in the face with awesome fluid simulations. The burst of full rainbow of color transforms a simple white background into an explosion of flavor that tosses the Sour Patch Kids all over the place.
A FLUID PROCESS
This whole party is a choreographed dance between colorful fluid simulations and gravity defying Sour Patch Kids candies. Every shot is composed using simple easy to use elements so that we can play with the composition and chaos of each shot. After we find the angles and positions we like, we fill the scene with high end fluid simulations and tumbling candies.
Our main consideration was to make sure the full array of flavors was represented. So we made an animatic that displayed all the different flavors and colors with simple, easy to use assets. After we get the look just right we can shake up each bottle until they explode with color.
The star of the show is definitely the Sour Patch Kids characters. They can emote and move on their own, but they still have to look like sugary, semi-translucent candies. To get this texture looking nice takes a lot of work in understanding how light hits translucent surfaces and sugar crystals. They are all cute little candy automatons and we can’t decide if we want to eat them hug them.
