Get ready to #EmbraceTheSour! Welcome to the greatest hits from our Sour Patch Kids Social campaign. Every time we pump out another Sour Patch Kids spot, it's like a party. They are rowdy, clever, mischievous and a little pookie. Take a look with us, and leave your thinking cap at the door and just enjoy it.
Honestly, if you have more than one kind of lemonade flavor what is the first thing you’d do…other than try them all—mix them together? Well that’s what the kids thought. Watch for the brat who pulls the rug out from under everyone just to see what happens. It all started with an iconic lemonade stand, with some DIY stands displaying the flavors. When the lemonade gets tossed in the air we see four bursts of lemonade in a nice cold glass. Sometimes the most fun ideas are the spontaneous and simple ones—like a lemonade stand.
When you partner with a classic gum like Trident, it has to be a vibe. This one bumps hard with pookie flavor. The inspiration for this idea was the spirit of the brand collaboration and the party inside the mouth. With a retro explosion of graphics, watermelons, cherries and blueberries, this one grabs your attention and makes you chew on it for a while.
There are several aspects to the Trident Vibes that made it a blast of visual flavor. First we had the emoji-like quality of the lips chewing on the Trident gum. To make the chewing more convincing, we built a little rig that better mimicked the motion of a jaw. It was important that their deformation felt natural and scrumptious. The burst of retro graphics uses shapes from the watermelon wedge and berries to presage the more juicy cg fruit that bursts outward. Our favorite part—the dancing kids when the beat drops. It’s all in there, let's go!
Next up! Our little pookies have grown up to be influencers, sliding in your comments section, shaking their sugar covered butts and spicing up your phone with their antics. This one was a lot of fun because of the wide range of jokes and gags that we had to cover. It became a party where anything was possible and we honed in on the more mischievous nature of the kids as they flop across your screen.

Sour Patch Kids is knocking it out of the park with crossover flavors and brands. With snapple, we get that iconic juice flavor and the sour mischief of the kids once again. When you tip over the snapple bottle, it's time to make the best of it and throw a pool party. We loved how they made a splash with their mischief.
Our Halloween campaign is packed with spooky surprises, playful pranks, and, of course, our signature sour-then-sweet treats. The green kid in the ghost is probably the cutest halloween surprise of all. We follow this kid in a frightful range of spooky situations, from finding a real ghost, to facing the ghosts of your own past. It is a game where the most embarrassing photos come back to haunt us all with a cringy aftertaste. Go ahead, wash it down with even more sweet and sour candy!
How many Sour Patch kids does it take to make a pancake. Six, apparently. This time, we bring out the party games with some pancakes and a guessing game. There is no point to these ones, just some antics with a sour recipe. Here, we are embracing everything that you can do with Sour Patch Kids, even the mini fruity ones. If you like the pancakes, you’ll love the Sour Patch Kids recipe’s page. It exists, and the pancakes are only the beginning.

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund has some opportunities that have the Sour Patch Kids going bonkers. So they broke out the old college tunes and started a different kind of celebration. We didn’t miss a beat getting all the hats and instruments ready to announce a HBCU scholarship.
Since we had a whole drumline backing these guys up, it was important to hash out the timing in an animatic. That way we know exactly when each instrument should hit. Working this way kept everything really loose and rough while nailing down the timing, as it made us more able to accommodate changes and script revisions. It’s a simple idea, with a fair number of moving pieces.
The Sour Patch Kids have a lot going on in their sugary texture. It is translucent, sparkly and somewhat accurate to the actual candy. They are an odd blend of realism and cartoonish style. So when we make props, we pull out all the stops. Each hat and prop needed its own blend of stylistic realism and cartoonish proportions. Pick your poison—feathers or furs.

Remarkably, this whole process was kind of sweet. The kids themselves are cuter than we expected them to be and we are always waiting for their sour side to shine and change things up.
